Catching Up with Izzy

trying out the bumbo for the first time
Izzy is doing so great. She is seriously the best baby! It is unreal how perfect she is. I had an easy pregnancy, an unbelievable delivery, and now that she is here, she just make being her mommy sooo easy. She gets up every night about 1:30am and then sleeps until about 7am. She goes right back to sleep after eating. She slept 9 and a half hours straight last night~ it was fantastic! During the day she still sleeps a lot. When she is awake she is cooing and smiling and Kary can even get a few giggles out of her. I don't think there has ever been a time when she has cried for longer than about a minute. I can always calm her down instantly~ she is a mama's girl for sure. But, she does love her daddy too.
I tried out the bumbo and she did pretty good. Her head still bobs a bit but she can hold it up on her own for the most part. She is even starting to do a few push-ups during tummy time. She is so amazing and I am so lucky to be her mommy. I can't wait to see what she will do next. It is going to be sooo hard leaving her next week when I go back to work. It will be nice knowing we are still connected by my milk and I will just cherish our time together even more.

First Day of Preschool

London had his first day of "young preschool" yesterday. It was his trial day but I wasn't worried. We have visited a few times and he loved it. He even asked me to go home and leave him there the last time we went to visit.
I dropped him off at about 8:45 and I didn't linger. I knew he would be fine. He walked in the door kind of slow and scoped out the classroom. His regular teacher was not there yet but the woman who makes the food was watching the kids. I explained London's vegetarian diet to her and she was very sweet.
London was overwhelmed and excited about all the toys. He is still working on sharing but did better after I left. While I was there he tried to rip a few toys out of other kid's hands and knocked over a little girl's puzzle with a firetruck twice. He liked her dramatic reaction.
It was weird going home without him there. It was so quiet with just me and Izzy. I called about 1pm (restrained from calling waaay before then) The teacher on the phone told me that London was having a great day and that he was participating in the lesson and singing and dancing to the "Wheels on the Bus" song.
I had a hair appointment with Kary that went over quite a bit. My original plan was to pick him up about 4pm...it ended up being 5:40pm...20 minutes before close...yikes.
When we got there we caught his teacher in the parking lot and she explained a bit about his day. She said he was fantastic. He didn't eat much so was hungry later and was asking for bread..haha. He took a great nap and had tons of fun outside. She said he was comforting all the kids that were crying to make them feel better. She did mention that he had a bad reaction to a puppet she showed them. She said he curled up in a ball and said her puppet was scary and he didn't like it. She had him move over to the special pillow area and hug his "baby bear" until he felt like coming back to the group. He has always had a fear of puppets. They freak him out, so we are going to work on that. It was just a simple one made from a paper bag...he's so funny.
When we got there he was the only kid left (I felt bad) and was with a woman who teaches in the toddler room. He was very quiet and playing with a toy cell phone. We went back to his room and we packed up his bag and he told us about some of the stuff he did. He was so excited and talking non-stop. He told us about his good nap, how he rode a bike with a helmet, how his teacher is so silly and dances really fast and sings. He was just beaming with excitement and pride.

Terrible Twos!

This little boy may look sweet but has come down with a bad case of the terrible twos. Being home the past few months has been amazing and we have had so much fun. But, it has also been exhausting keeping him busy and entertained while going on very little sleep.
Here are a few examples of some things he's been doing...

squeezes Izzy's wrists, put things on Izzy's head, throws stuffed animals at Izzy and tells her to play with them, shoves Izzy's binky in her mouth, grabs her head and talks in her ear while she is napping, tries to climb in Izzy's swing, yells and demands snacks and milk, does not clean up his toys and asks mom to do it, crushes goldfish into the floor and makes it rain goldfish, chases the dogs, hits the dogs, screams high-pitched at the dogs, me, and Izzy, climbs on counters, chairs, tables, gets into cupboards, closets, food pantry, doesn't want to go to bed, gets sassy when he doesn't get something immediately, tantrums when has to make transitions from one activity to another...etc

I know these are all very common and age appropriate. He also does some sweet amazing things...here are some of the adorable things he's been up to as well:

kisses me as soon as he wakes up, tells Izzy "bless you sweet baby girl" after she sneezes, kisses Izzy and tells her he loves her so much, tells Izzy she is sooo cute, tells me I am gorgeous and that he loves me so much.

He is a perfect combo of sweet and sassy which is lethal for a mommy. Whenever he's disciplined he busts out with a sweet, "I so sorry mommy. I love you so much."
I am looking forward to all the good and bad my little boy has to offer...he's amazing!

Portraits

We decided to get professional photos since we have the new baby. I scheduled the shoot on a Friday so Kary would be off work. We got up early, managed to get both kids picture perfect and out of the house on time and even braved an ice storm. Izzy was so good during the shoot after she sucked down lots of ounces of milk. London, on the other hand, was not. He was telling the photographers that he did not like them, he kept running off set, and refused to smile. They gave him a ball to throw around and they managed to catch a few smirks. We ended up spending a ridiculous amount of money on prints but they were just too cute not to order. Izabelle Alice 2 Month Check-Up Stats

waiting for the doctor
still waiting...
Izabelle now weighs 11lbs 4oz and is 22 inches long. She is right at the 50th percentile. She is healthy and strong and reaching all her milestones. The doctor is a bit concerned with her head flattening a bit in the back. We have been through the whole DOC band process and have been trying to be very careful to make sure this one's head stays round but our efforts are not working so well. So we decided we are going to hold her constantly and do tummy time all day. If we do need to get her a DOC band we know she will be adorable. We are just hoping it doesn't come to that.
She had 2 shots and an oral one. She cried so hard when the needle went in and I thought I was going to too. She calmed quickly though once I cuddled her. She later came down with a fever and we gave her the first dose of meds. She is doing great now. Izzy is one tough little lady.

Izzy Alice: 2 Months

Izzy is already 2 months old and changing and growing so much every day. She smiles all the time (I did not know they could even do that at this age!) She is starting to be awake more and is starting to coo and grab onto things. She is definitely a mama's girl and can't get enough snuggles and love. She grabs onto my hand and pulls my hair to pull herself closer. She is so sweet. She is sleeping about 4-6 hours at a time at night so that has been nice for me. She loves to be tightly swaddled and the "woobie" has been working great for that. She looks like a little baby in a straight jacket...but she sleeps so well in it. She is actually about to grow out of hers and we'll need to get a size up. She is also quickly growing out of diapers and clothes. I am having fun dressing her but most of her cutest clothes are for a bit older. She looks so cute in her bows. She has her 2 month check-up tomorrow and we'll find out how much weight she's gained. She is starting to get quite the little pot belly. It is so cute. I love this little girl to pieces. Here are some pictures of what she's been up to.
