my sweet baby boy |
Friday we had a dual appointment where London went to his 2 year check-up at his pediatrician which happens to be 1 floor down from my OBGYN. I left work early, met Kary for London's check-up and then an hour later walked upstairs and had my 39 week check-up...very convenient!

London did great at the pediatrician's. It was the first well check-up where he didn't scream his head off. He weighs 27.2lbs, is 36 inches tall and is developing on the level of a 3 year old with some language and physical skills he's able to do. He had his iron level checked and did such a good job as the nurse had to prick his finger and squeeze blood into the vial which seemed to last forever! He sat so cute on Kary's lap with his lollipop...he was a little rockstar.
The doc said it's ok to continue mirilax for a while longer and as long as that is working, no need to see a specialist. So, that was good news. She also said it's totally normal that he's not a very big eater. He actually has been eating much better just over the past few days. We started him on Flinstone vitamins and he likes them so much he asks for more...I had to explain to him that they are medicine and made sure to pack them away where he can't get to them. London had to get his last set of shots Hep A and a flu shot. Luckily, it was time for my appointment so I didn't have to witness this, but Kary said he just cried a little and he seemed happy enough when I met up with them in the waiting room of the OBGYN.
My appointment only lasted about 15 minutes. My weight is now upt o a total of 34lbs gained...yikes! Oh well, I am hoping to get rid of it quickly. Baby's heart rate is 147 and her head is totally in position and wedged in the canal. I am still 80% effaced and 1cm dilated. Baby is positioned at -2 and should be at +3 to prepare for birth so she has a few more cm to drop. The doctor said anytime...which is very exciting and unsetttling!
We finally got all the final items: a double stroller, video monitor, and new diaper bag. I packed all my stuff, Kary packed his bag, I laid out my clothes to put on to the hospital, packed London's overnight bag for grandma and grandpa's and made a last minute item checklist...I still plan to work 3 more days and have a sub finally. I have a few loose ends at work and then I will be totally ready. The doctor said that if she's not here by Friday, we will talk induction. I am hoping she comes sometime soon after Wed..Thursday would be great...my favorite doctor is on call and I will be officially done with work...but she may have another plan!

Nothing is more exciting than to give birth and see your child for the first time. It really helps to have regular OB/GYN checkups to inform and guide you all throughout your pregnancy. I hope you didn't have a hard time giving birth to your second child. Take care, Sara!
